In June 2013 the Ghost Watershed saw its largest recorded flood since the early 1900's. It has been estimated that the Ghost River at Benchlands was flowing at 670 cubic meters per second at the peak of the flood. Several homes in Benchlands were damaged, some even completely destroyed. The diversion structures and dykes on the North Ghost River were also heavily damaged or destroyed and thus the diversion has been out of operation since the flood.
